Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

This week, TruTV kicked off its new half-hour anthology series Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters with an episode mixing live action and animation to creepy effect.

The series’ debut episode, “Bubba the Bear,” stars Seth Green as a voice actor who begins to question his sanity when his most popular cartoon creation starts stalking and tormenting him in real life.

The episode features plenty of 2d cartoon animation, meant to evoke classic theatrical animated characters. A short preview is below:

The character animation for “Bubba the Bear” was produced by Titmouse, with vfx provided by Hey Beautiful Jerk.

Mike Carlo directed the animation for the episode, as well as storyboarded the animation segments and designed Bubba. He shared a short clip of animation from the episode on Instagram:
