Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Cartoon Network has greenlit a new production: Elliott from Earth, which it touts is being produced by the same U.K.-based team that made The Amazing World of Gumball.

Created by Guillaume Cassuto, a Gumball scriptwriter and composition supervisor, Elliott from Earth is a sci-fi sitcom that follows Elliott, a human boy who finds himself living on a spaceship full of aliens from around the universe (not to mention a dinosaur, too). The network describes it as a funny and warm-hearted show about “finding your place in the world.”

Twenty 11-minute episodes have been ordered. Production is set to begin in September 2018 out of the network’s EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) hub in London. The show will employ many of the same crew members from The Amazing World of Gumball, including writers, storyboard artists, and editors who worked on that earlier series in London.

Says creator Guillaume Cassuto, “Elliott’s story has been in the back of my mind for a long time, and working my way through a number of different roles on Gumball gave me a unique look into how to bring such a project to life. I’m beyond excited to have the chance to introduce Elliott to the world, and very proud to have this amazing team with me for the ride. I hope kids and animation fans across the universe will love Elliott just as much as we do.”
