Grant Orchard’s New TV Series ‘Hey Duggee’ Has a Teaser
Studio AKA has posted a first look at its ridiculously appealing new preschool series Hey Duggee (formerly Chop Chop) created by Grant Orchard, the BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated director of A Morning Stroll.
The series, which consists of 52 seven-minute episodes, will start airing on CBeebies in January, and will be preceded by a Christmas special that debuts on December 17th. Aimed at 2-5 year olds, Hey Duggee encourages kids to solve problems like the show’s animal characters at the Squirrel Club. At the end of each episode, they’re rewarded with a badge by the leader of the club, Duggee the dog.
Says Orchard:
As a parent I’m always looking for suggestions about what to do with my kids. All the things I loved doing as a child I was doing again with my own children and they were mostly hands-on, outdoor activities. Creating a 52 episode series that gives you 52 activities to do with your kids seemed like a no-brainer to me. I’m a bit of a geeky collector and loved badges when I was younger so I thought that would be a really good, simple reward for kids. With every episode there is a dedicated activity sheet with five additional tasks that kids can do with their parents.
