‘Over the Garden Wall,’ Steven Universe,’ and ‘Wander Over Yonder’ Score First Emmy Noms
Nominees for the 67th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, were announced this morning.
The two major animation categories pretty much comprise television’s animation establishment—The Simpsons, South Park, Archer, Robot Chicken, Adventure Time, and Bob’s Burgers—but there’s also a few newcomers this year. Both Rebecca Sugar’s Steven Universe and Craig McCracken’s Wander Over Yonder earned their first series nominations this year.
Another pleasant surprise: Patrick McHale’s Over the Garden Wall, Cartoon Network’s fantastical miniseries that managed to trip across demographics and genres without losing its balance, scored a nod in the animated program category.
Below is a list of nominees in the animation-related categories. For the full list of nominees, visit the Emmys website. Winners of the Primetime Emmys will be announced on September 20 at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
