During the company’s Q1 earnings call in March, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, and Discovery Kids president Michael Ouweleen announced that Adult Swim would be expanding its programming block by one hour on May 1.

That move proved popular enough with viewers that the network is going to add another hour to its schedule later this summer.

Titled Checkered Past, the new programming block will debut on Cartoon Network under the Adult Swim banner. Starting on August 28, every Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. EST Checkered Past will feature a lineup of classic Cartoon Network programming including Dexter’s Laboratory, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Ed, Edd n Eddy.

On Saturdays, the content will shift slightly to more contemporary programming such as Genndy Tartakovski’s Unicorn: Warriors Eternal and My Adventures with Superman. On Sundays, the channel will continue hosting Acme Night, a family-focused content lineup running 6-9 p.m.

In a statement to Deadline, which broke the news, Ouweleen said: “Animation can both speak to multiple age groups in the moment and also find new audiences across decades. The early Cartoon Network originals—like Dexter’s Laboratory or Courage the Cowardly Dog are examples of shows that do both.”

After Adult Swim’s expansion last month, the network’s 7 p.m. block saw a growth of 24% among viewers between 18 and 49 and 38% for audiences between 18 and 34. Importantly, that growth also carried over into the network’s 8 p.m. programming block, and Cartoon Network/Adult Swim now ranks sixth among ad-supported networks in primetime.
