‘Playmobil: The Movie’ Continues On Path To Becoming Legendary Box Office Disaster

The film plummeted 74% in its second weekend, playing to mostly empty theaters.

Only two movies have ever opened more poorly in 2,000+ theaters: “The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure” and “Delgo.”

The film opens this weekend in 2,300 North American theaters.

In a year of U.S. animation box office disappointments, STX Entertainment hopes to avoid that fate with its upcoming “Playmobil: The Movie.”

“Uglydolls” is the fourth animated film to crash and burn at the box office in 2019, and we’re only in May.

STX, which is also releasing “Uglydolls,” will now release a second animated feature in the U.S. this year.

“Playmobil” will be the opening night film at Annecy 2019.

Everything is not awesome for Warner Animation Group (WAG).

If you thought 2018 was a big year for animated features, just wait until 2019.

Lino DiSalvo, the head of animation on Disney’s “Frozen,” will make his directorial debut on the toy-based movie.

If Lego can make a movie, so can Playmobil.
