Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris’s Toy Story 5 drew 20 million views globally over its first five days on Disney+, making it the platform’s most-watched film during its premiere week, according to figures shared by Disney.
The Pixar sequel also landed among the top 10 theatrical film premieres on Disney+ globally to date. Its arrival also boosted the rest of the franchise, with the Toy Story films logging an additional 168 million hours of viewing since the first Toy Story 5 teaser was released.
Toy Story is the most-watched film franchise on Disney+, with more than two billion hours streamed globally. The first four features also consistently rank among the platform’s 20 most-watched movies each year.
The streaming numbers add another milestone to a big year for the 30-year-old franchise. Toy Story 5 crossed $1 billion at the global box office this summer, pushing the five films’ combined theatrical haul past $4 billion.
Beyond theaters and streaming, Toy Story generates more than $1 billion in annual global retail sales. Disney estimates that the franchise has generated more than $50 billion in total worldwide economic impact since the original Toy Story debuted in 1995.
