Live-Action Scooby-Doo Series Headed To Netflix

Netflix has landed a live-action Scooby-Doo series after a competitive bidding process between multiple streamers.

Here’s what we currently know about this adaptation of the iconic Hanna-Barbera series, now owned by Warner Bros. Discovery:

• Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series is being overseen by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The show has a script-to-series commitment at Netflix, according to a report from Deadline.
• The series will be written by veteran Hollywood writers Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg. Applebaum co-created the Prime Video series Citadel, and co-wrote the Paramount features Wonder Park and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014). Rosenberg wrote Gone in 60 Seconds and Con Air, and co-wrote Jumanji: The Next Level. Both of them executive produced the Netflix live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop.
• Applebaum and Rosenberg will executive produce the series, alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman for Berlanti Productions, and André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner for Midnight Radio (the company they run with Appelbaum and Rosenberg). Jonathan Gabay (Berlanti Productions ) and Adrienne Erickson (Midnight Radio) co-executive produce.
• The animated Hanna-Barbera series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, premiered in 1969 on CBS. There have been countless iterations and reboots of the characters over the years, on both the small screen and theatrically. A live-action theatrical franchise was launched in 2002, and a cg feature Scoob! was released in 2020. An adult animated spinoff series Velma just debuted its second season on Max last week.
