Hulu Appoints Kelci Parker As VP Of Animation
As the streamer continues to expand its lineup of adult animated comedy series, Hulu Originals has appointed Kelci Parker to the newly-created role of vp of animation.
Details and background:
- Parker has been tasked with heading the development of new animated content and overseeing the streamer’s current programming, reporting to Hulu’s head of scripted content Jordan Helman. Current original animated programming at Hulu includes Solar Opposites, a revival of Futurama, Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, and Koala Man.
- Parker has a long history of work in both animation and live-action comedy. Before joining Hulu in 2020, Parker worked at Comedy Central as director of talent and development, specializing in scripted narrative and animation. While there, she oversaw the launch of the Comedy Central Animated Shorts program and the animated series Legends of Chamberlain Heights, as well as several popular live-action shows.
- Parker has been with Hulu for two years, having joined in July of 2020 as lead development/current programming executive on Marvel animated series Modok and Hit-Monkey, as well as live-action series Only Murders in the Building, Life and Beth, and How I Met Your Father. In December of last year, she was promoted to vp of comedy originals under Billy Rosenberg, head of comedy, Hulu Originals.
- In September 2021, Blavity Inc. included Parker on their annual Rising Awards honoree list, and in March of this year she was number 14 on Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood to Know: Executives list.
- After her latest promotion was announced by Deadline, Parker tweeting the article saying simply: “I watch a lot of cartoons…”
