Elemental Elemental

As Elemental nears the end of its impressive and improbable theatrical run, Pixar’s latest will splash down on Disney+ next week.

Today, the streamer announced the film will debut worldwide on September 13, 89 days after its June 16 theatrical premiere. Debuting alongside Elemental on the 13th will be a making-of documentary titled Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental and the short film Carl’s Date.

Good Chemistry: The Story of Elemental follows Sohn on a journey to tell his most personal story yet. The documentary explores several real-life influences that contributed to the Elemental narrative. Sohn traces his parent’s migration from Korea to New York, visits his dad’s former grocery store in the Bronx, and examines his choice to pursue a career in animation rather than taking over the family business.

The bundled arrival comes just as Disney has unveiled a limited-time discount to its ad-supported tier. Interested subscribers can sign up between September 6-20 and receive three months of Disney+ Basic with ads for $1.99/month for three months. The same subscription typically costs $7.99/month.

Elemental’s arrival on Disney+ comes much later than many might have expected, given the film’s rocky start at the box office; it holds the ignominious distinction as the second-worst opening weekend in Pixar’s history. However, the film has since had incredible legs and grossed more than $153.6 million domestically and $480 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo.
