TVPaint Animation 12 Is Here And Packed With Incredible New Features
TVPaint Développement is a family company based in the northeast of France and composed of developers, sales, and tech support people with a passion for animation.
The company has been working very hard on its latest major release: TVPaint Animation 12, and to celebrate the launch, has unveiled a new visual identity and website.
A brief introduction to TVPaint
TVPaint Animation is a 2d bitmap animation software. It has been developed and commercialized by TVPaint Développement since 1997. Founder Hervé Adam, imagined TVPaint Animation to bring traditional looking animation to computer screens, by implementing paper techniques into a software.
TVPaint provides the most natural creative experience, just like drawing on paper, and grouping all the tools that a traditional animator needs at their disposal. It is an efficient tool, used in many studios around the world, taught in many schools, and has gained the rank of industrial standard in the animation world over the years.
Some of TVPaint’s most iconic features are its brush engine, its Color and Texture Layer (CTG) that allows artists to colorize faster, and the overall drawing experience that brings animators close to the paper experience.
TVPaint has long been applauded by its userbase for being intuitive, and providing a pleasurable user experience. This experience is supported by an engaged online community whose feedback helps developers to continue improving the software.
Now what? The release of TVPaint Animation 12!
The eagerly awaited new edition of TVPaint Animation takes the software to new heights. The developers have worked to smooth out all of the user feedback on the earlier edition, and have also improved the compatibility and performance on ARM Macs.
Here are some of the new features in TVPaint 12:
- A new Modular Interface to take full advantage of a multi-screen environment and adapt the TVPaint interface to the production stage.
- Layer Folders to organize TVPaint 12 projects by grouping layers into Folders.
- A new 2D Camera entirely redesigned around a key-based system, whose positions can easily be changed from the Timeline.
- New transformation algorithms that guarantee better quality preservation for drawings.
- A new Image Library to manage project resources, which has been redesigned also for the next new feature.
- Introducing the new Bitmap Rigging engine to create puppets and manipulate characters using our Puppet Layers in TVPaint Animation 12 Professional. It also allows the animator to automatically generate in-betweens between two key poses to save even more time.
With this new version, TVPaint aimed to offer a broader range of work possibilities. TVPaint was known to be used in feature films, but is now aiming to create series workflows, which means overcoming some of the previous bitmap-based limitations of the software.
The company also remains committed toward the student community, and will continue to offer a half-price discount on licenses (and up to 75% for certain partner schools).
TVPaint Développement has also integrated Pay in 4 with Paypal to facilitate the purchase of TVPaint. Its licenses are a one-time purchase, and tech support comes included.
A new identity, a new website, and Annecy
With this latest version comes a new look for the company. The company’s new logo and graphic program were designed by the talented Schlep team, in the northeast of France.
To celebrate the crisp, new logo, TVPaint Développement worked with artists from the TVPaint Community to create new imagery around a common theme. The collaborating artists were Ohfifteen, Leffiesart, La_graine_, Zacklydon, Animate_jack, Otaking77077, Kimarmalde and Bouchetloup.
The company’s own animator, Léo Fernandez, who creates work under the TVPaint Studio label, also added his perspective to the redesign.
New logos, new icons, new colors – the rebrand aims to clarify the different activities of TVPaint Développement, as well as the different editions of its animation software.
And all these new changes are coming together on the company’s new website, entirely redesigned to improve the customer experience, with new resources including:
- A page dedicated to students and schools
- A page dedicated to TVPaint Masterclass contents: tutorials, documentation, training
- A new Portfolio page to showcase the many and amazing talents of the TVPaint Community
TVPaint Développement will also be present at Annecy next month, an event that attracts a huge number of TVPaint users. The company’s booth (A.13) will feature many guests and demos.
To see TVPaint in action, check out the new tutorials on Youtube, which are now being presented under the TVPaint Masterclass label. These new tutorials are a guarantee of verified and approved content that will further help animators master the tool so they fully express their creative potential. The company plans to remake all of its earlier tutorials to adapt them to the TVPaint 12 standard.
