Those with at least two years of work experience in the animation or cg industry in Europe can join the free Summer of Unreal course, which begins on July 26. Participants will learn real-time skills from industry vets, higher-education partners around Europe, and Escape Studios, the U.K.’s only Unreal Authorized Training Center.

The Summer of Unreal is a European-wide project for which Epic Games and Escape Studios teamed up with some of the best animation partners in Europe, including:

  • ArtFX in France
  • The Animation Workshop (VIA) in Denmark
  • La Salle Campus Barcelona in Spain
  • Screen Skills Ireland
  • Crater Studio and Film Serbia from the Balkans and Eastern Europe
  • Hochschule Der Medien (Stuttgart Media University)

These partners will represent their country and region and contribute some of their amazing expertise. They’ll also bring more industry guests who can show participating animators how to maximize the way they use Unreal Engine.

Summer of Unreal

Applicants don’t have to already know how to use Unreal Engine: they’ll start from the basics and work their way up. The course is free for industry professionals, as well as tutors and lecturers from Europe’s higher-education colleges and universities.

What makes Unreal Engine so special? It’s the world’s most open and advanced real-time 3d creation tool, and has opened up incredible new opportunities for the animation and cg industries. Industry pros can keep their business or art practice in demand and relevant by beginning their journey into the world of Unreal Engine and implementing it into their animation pipeline.
