Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Dice Tsutsumi and Robert Kondo, former Pixar art directors and directors of the Oscar-nominated short The Dam Keeper, have completed their second short film, Moom.

A trailer for the film, which is just entering the festival circuit, can be viewed below:

The 13-minute film, made through their growing production company Tonko House, in partnership with Craftar and Marza Animation Planet, tells the story of a memory, personified as a cute big-eared creature, that helps release other memories from their objects. The concept is based on a children’s book written by Genki Kawamura and illustrated by Yuki Mashiko.

Robert Kondo will speak this Sunday, April 24, at the San Francisco International Film Festival about Moom and other projects that Tonko House is developing. For tickets and additional information, see the festival website.

Kondo and Tsutsumi have been releasing a making-of video series on Youtube that documents the development and production of the film. Three episodes have been released to date:

The duo is also working on developing The Dam Keeper into a full-length animated feature. A graphic novel series based on the concept will debut later this year through the Macmillan imprint First Second Books.
