The Bundy’s are coming back (probably), but this time they’ll be animated.

According to sources who spoke with Deadline, an animated reboot of Married… with Children featuring original cast members Katey Sagal, Ed O’Neill, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino is reportedly being pitched to broadcasters and platforms, and interest is high.

Spearheading the Married… with Children revival is Alex Carter, an executive producer on Family Guy, who will write and showrun. Sony Pictures Television has the rights to the original series, and has been developing the animated update for more than a year.

Married… with Children, created by Michael G. Moye and the late Ron Leavitt, premiered on Fox in 1987 and ran for more than a decade. It was one of the broadcaster’s first scripted sitcoms and became one of tv’s best-known shows of the era.

No broadcaster is currently attached to the new series, although a return to Fox as part of its Animation Domination Sunday night lineup would make sense. Peacock and Hulu both also seem strong candidates, as both currently carry the original series.

Married… with Children (1987) takes place in Chicagoland and turns on shoe salesman Al Bundy (O’Neill), his stay-at-home wife Peggy (Sagal), and their two kids Kelly (Applegate) and Bud (Faustino). The show also heavily featured the Bundy’s neighbors Steve (David Garrison) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) Rhoades, and in later seasons Marcy’s second husband Jefferson D’Arcy (Ted McGinley). It’s not yet been announced if any non-Bundy actors will be returning for the animated series.

For Sagal, a Married… with Children animated series will keep her busy in the sound booth. In February of this year, Disney announced that she, and other original voice actors, were set to revive their roles in a Futurama revival headed to Hulu.
