WondLa WondLa

While Skydance Animation ended its feature distribution deal with Apple after just one film (2022’s Luck), the company has completed the new series WondLa for Apple TV+.

The seven-episode first season of WondLa will premiere globally on Apple’s streaming service on Friday, June 28. The series is billed as a trilogy which suggests that additional seasons will follow.

A trailer was released today:

Based on Tony DiTerlizzi’s bestselling book series The Search for WondLa, the show centers around Eva (voiced by Jeanine Mason), a curious and spirited teenager being raised in a state-of-the-art underground bunker by Muthr, a robot caretaker (Teri Hatcher). On her 16th birthday, an attack on Eva’s bunker forces her onto the Earth’s surface, which is now called Orbana, devoid of all human life, and inhabited by aliens. Otto (Brad Garrett), a waterbear with whom Eva shares telepathic powers, and Rovender (Gary Anthony Williams), a cantankerous alien with a troubled past, join Eva on her quest to find other humans, her home, and her true destiny.

Showrunner is Disney veteran Bobs Gannaway (Planes, House of Mouse), who is also an execuctive producer alongside DiTerlizzi, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Goldberg. The series is also produced by Tony Cosanella.
