Strange Planet Strange Planet

Apple TV+ has unveiled a new ten-episode adult animated series titled Strange Planet, adapted from the New York Times bestselling graphic novel and viral webcomic of the same name. The show will debut on August 9, 2023, with new episodes released weekly.

Created by Nathan W. Pyle, Strange Planet has been one of the most recognizable online comic strips for several years, frequently popping up on social media platforms and web forums. Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon joins Pyle as co-creator on the Strange Planet series adaptation, which will likely target a similar demographic to Harmon’s other shows.

Show details:

  • Apple’s synopsis: “Strange Planet is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own. Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions.”
  • The original comic followed little blue aliens who talk their way through human customs and mannerisms in a frank way that is both humorous and endearing.
  • The Strange Planet series is co-created and executive produced by Pyle and Harmon. It’s produced by Apple Studios and Shadowmachine, with the latter handling animation. Other executive producers are Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico for Shadowmachine alongside Lauren Pomerantz, Amalia Levari, Steve Levy, and Taylor Alexy Pyle.
  • Voice casting includes Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn, Danny Pudi, and Hannah Einbinder.
