New Program In Senegal Trains Aspiring African Animators
The BBC published a video report on a new animation initiative in Africa that aims to nurture new talent from around the continent. Hosted in a private management school in Dakar, Senegal and backed by the European Union, the program offers a full training program in both hand-drawn and CG animation.

“People from Asia tell their stories using this medium, and so do Americans, Europeans and Arabs,” program director Malik Faye Diagne told the BBC. “I think it is time for Africans too to hop on this trend.”
Ten artists from eight different countries, including Madagascar, Congo, and Benin, are participating in the inaugural program. After graduating next May, the most successful graduates of the course will receive funding to start up studios in their home countries.
