“Leaving Home” by Joost Lieuwma

As anyone who follows animation can attest, the amount of short form animation being posted online nowadays is growing at a breathtaking pace. We strive to cover a broad selection of work on Cartoon Brew, but recognize that there are many more animated shorts worthy of the community’s attention that we simply never get around to writing about.

To that end, our new Cartoon Brew Pick of the Day will allow us to highlight a greater number of films on the site. These hand-picked shorts—both indie and studio-made—will be presented without commentary, but they will exhibit the same high standards of quality you’ve come to expect from Cartoon Brew’s curation. This section will not replace anything; its intention is to expand our existing coverage of short films and interviews with short filmmakers. Today, we debut this new section with Joost Lieuwma’s Leaving Home:
