Hopefully Pete Docter has started clearing space on his mantel because the end-of-the-year accolades for his offbeat masterstroke Inside Out are going to pile up quickly.

Today the New York Film Critics Circle named Pixar’s Inside Out the best animated film of the year.

The win comes on the heels of yesterday’s Annie Award nominations, in which Pixar’s dive into the mind led with 14 nominations.

Last year the New York critics awarded their animated feature prize to The Lego Movie, and the year prior to Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises.
