Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Youtube is making a push into adult animation programming, albeit much more slowly than streaming competitor Netflix.

The Google-owned website has ordered a presentation for Dumb People Town, a proposed half-hour animated series based on the hit podcast created by Randy Sklar, Jason Sklar, and Daniel Van Kirk.

Dumb People Town centers around a family in a Florida town struggling with the most important question of our times: Is it better to be dumb and happy? Or smart and miserable?

The series will be written by and executive produced by Randy and Jason Sklar, Dan Van Kirk and Julius Sharpe (Making History, Family Guy).

Will Arnett and Marc Forman will executive produce through Electric Avenue along with Peter Principato and Joel Zadak through Artists First. The project is distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Last May, the streaming site launched the full-length adult animated series
Dallas & Robo
via its Youtube Red subscription service.
