Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Netflix premiered the trailer today for Buddy Thunderstruck, a new stop motion series that bows on March 10.

Here’s the trailer:

The trailer suggests a unique tone and look; it’s the kind of show that we wouldn’t expect any other major American kids’ network to commission. Two unlikely companies teamed up to make the series: American Greetings Entertainment, creators of Eighties fads like Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, and Stoopid Buddy Studios, makers of Robot Chicken and Supermansion, making its first major foray into children’s programming with Buddy.

Series was created by Ryan Wiesbrock, head of development and production at American Greetings. The first season will have twelve episodes.

The title character in Buddy Thunderstruck is described as the “the coolest semi-truck racing dog” and the series follows his “nitro-burning, gear-slamming, tire-squealing, fish-tailing” adventures in the town of Greasepit.
