Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival has revealed the first part of its official selections for the upcoming 2018 edition, set to take place June 11-16, 2018, in Annecy, France.

The festival has selected 130 short films for official competition from more than 3,050 submissions. The list of competition films can be seen on the Annecy website.

The category breakdowns are as follows:

  • 46 Shorts
  • 8 Off-Limits
  • 18 Perspectives
  • 10 Young Audiences
  • 48 Graduation Films

Entries were received from 93 countries, with France, United States, and the United Kingdom leading the way in the number of submissions.

The festival’s selection of tv and commissioned films will be announced at the end of March, followed by virtual reality selections on April 16, and feature films and out-of-competition films at the end of April.

The competition short films selection committee was comprised of the Annecy festival’s artistic director Marcel Jean, the Films and Program Planning Team (Laurent Million, Yves Nougarède and Sébastien Sperer), and Peggy Zejgman-Lecarme, the director of La Cinémathèque de Grenoble.
