Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Netflix has released a new trailer for Okja, an original film directed and co-written by Bong Joon-Ho (Snowpiecer, The Host).

The hybrid film combines live action with an animated star, the titular character Okja. Method Studios and South Korea’s 4th Creative Party are the main vfx shops credited with bringing to life the lumpy and lovable cartoon creature.

The film’s logline: “A gentle giant and the girl who raised her are caught in the crossfire between animal activism, corporate greed, and scientific ethics.”

Besides its animated star, Okja features performances by Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Yeun, and Paul Dano.

Okja premieres Friday at the Cannes Film Festival, and will launch globally June 28 on Netflix.
