Paramount Is Developing A Live-Action/CGI Hybrid ‘Rugrats’ Feature
Paramount is planning to bring back Nickelodeon’s hit Nineties series Rugrats as a hybrid live-action/cg feature.
Jason Moore, who directed the feature Pitch Perfect and Broadway’s Shrek the Musical, is attached as director. The script is being written by Saturday Night Live writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.
Karen Rosenfelt, who produced the hybrid Yogi Bear and multiple Alvin and the Chipmunks features, is on board as producer. Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó, who created the original series with Paul Germain, are also on board as producers.
News outlet Deadline, which first reported the story, did not indicate what parts of the film would be animated and which parts would be live action, so it’s not know if Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil will be animated in the film.
