Inside Out 2 Inside Out 2

Disney has dropped the first trailer for Inside Out 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2015’s Oscar-winning box office behemoth Inside Out, scheduled to hit theaters in June 2024.

The original Inside Out was the coming-of-age story of 11-year-old Riley and featured five anthropomorphized emotions living in her brain: Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger. In the trailer, a new emotion, Anxiety, joins the gang and teases that other feelings will also be moving into headquarters.

According to director Kelsey Mann, who makes his feature debut with Inside Out 2, the new character promises to shake things up inside Riley’s head:

Anxiety might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat. That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.

Along with the new trailer, Disney and Pixar released the first detailed synopsis for the sequel, which reads:

Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

The Inside Out 2 voice cast includes newcomer Maya Hawke as Anxiety alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust.

Disney also released a new poster for the film, seen below.
