Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

How many more Spider-People are there?

That’s the question answered in the new trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which reveals more of the film’s quirky tone and playful multiverse mashup.

We’ve already written about the film, and this new trailer basically confirms what we already know: that this latest Sony Pictures Animation film is an ambitious experiment both visually and tonally for a U.S. studio animation film.

Shameik Moore leads the voice cast as Miles Morales. The other “Spider-People” are Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Woman/Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), and Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), while other voices include Mahershala Ali, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin.

Bob Persichetti (head of story, The Little Prince, Puss in Boots), Peter Ramsey (director, Rise of the Guardians), and Rodney Rothman (head writer, Late Show with David Letterman) direct Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse from a script by Rothman and Phil Lord (The Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street). Sony Pictures Imageworks is the animation studio.

Film is produced by Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Christina Steinberg.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be released in the U.S. on December 14, 2018.
