Chris Miller Joins Reel FX To Direct ‘Wish Project’

Veteran director Chris Miller is joining Reel FX to direct an original feature, currently described as “Untitled Wish Project.”

Chris Miller directed Puss in Boots and Shrek the Third at Dreamworks Animation. This is not the same Chris Miller as the one who co-directed The Lego Movie with Phil Lord. As pointed out before, Hollywood has a surplus of people named Chris directing animated features.

This Chris, according to Jared Mass, head of Reel FX’s Originals Unit, is “an incredibly creative and talented filmmaker…he brings a vision to the film that is sure to resonate with audiences all over the world.”

Reel FX is keeping plot details for “Wish Project” under wraps, but says the film will take place in “both the real world and a world of mythical creatures where human wishes are heard and dealt with.” It’s not clear if the film has any connection to a project that Reel FX had announced a few years ago called Wish Police.

Reel FX has produced the animated features The Book of Life and Free Birds. It is currently producing Monster on the Hill slated for 2020 release by Paramount, and Warner Animation Group’s Scooby Doo feature, also due 2020.

Miller is represented by Verve and Weintraub Tobin.
