The Animation Showcase (TAS), a free streaming platform for animation students and industry workers, is the easiest place to catch two of this year year’s top international animated features, Perlimps from Brazil and Titina from Norway.

Both films are awards season contenders and will surely be looking to benefit from the increased exposure that comes with distribution on The Animation Showcase.

Perlimps is the latest feature from Oscar-nominated The Boy and the World director Alê Abreu. Set in a vibrantly colored rainforest, the Brazilian film follows secret agents Claé and Bruô, an anthropomorphic wolf and bear representing the Kingdoms of the Sun and Moon, respectively. With top-class sound engineering and an often-surprising soundtrack accompanying the film’s breathtaking visuals and innovative use of light, Perlimps is a feast for the senses.

Benoit Berthe Siward, CEO of The Animation Showcase, said in a release:

Just as his previous masterpiece left us spellbound, Alê Abreu’s latest film is a tapestry of vibrant colors, an enchanting realm of imagination with profound values that touch the heart.

In addition to the film, Showcase members will have access to several Perlimps featurettes and making-of videos.

Titina, a Norway-Belgium co-production, is based on real events and tells the story of a 1920s expedition by airship to the North Pole. Onboard the vessel are Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen, Italian aviator Umberto Nobile, and the latter’s pet dog Titina, whose mute but expressive presence anchors the whole film. Titina is the feature directorial debut of Kajsa Næss, whose shorts include Deconstruction Workers and It’s Up to You.

According to Berthe Siward:

I am very pleased to announce this collaboration with the creators of Titina by offering a beautifully crafted adventure, thrilling and funny to enjoy.

The Animation Showcase is an increasingly valuable resource for animation students and anyone working in the industry. In recent years, the platform has hosted a huge number of Oscar-qualified shorts and several of the highest-profile foreign and international features, including Academy Award nominees such as Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s Flee and Dean Fleischer Camp’s Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.
