Amid a wave of executive movement at ViacomCBS’s MTV Entertainment Group (MTVE), Nina L. Diaz has been promoted to chief creative officer for unscripted entertainment and adult animation at streamer Paramount+.

Diaz will also remain CCO and president of content for MTVE. She will continue to report to Chris McCarthy, president of MTVE. McCarthy announced the latest round of changes in a memo to staff seen by Variety.

Meanwhile Grant Gish, head of adult animation for MTVE, is seeing his role expand to cover series and movies at Paramount+. He will continue to report to Diaz.

The reorganization, which includes several further promotions and role expansions across unscripted content, is aimed at aligning series and movies by “genre” and abolishing standalone “movie” and “alternative” teams. Two executives have left ViacomCBS as a result: Meghan Hooper White, who was set to oversee 100 films annually for the company’s network brands, and Justin Rosenblatt, who headed alternative and comedy content for the same brands.

Adult animation is a fast-growing area for ViacomCBS, as it is for other majors. The company’s strategy has lately centered on reboots of and spin-offs from established properties, including South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head, Clone High, and Daria spin-off Jodie. Most of these are bound for either ViacomCBS networks or third-party platforms, although Beavis and South Park movies have been announced for Paramount+.
