AMPAS Unveils Newly Elected And Returning Board Of Governors Members
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the newly elected and reelected members of its 2023–2024 Board of Governors. The governors will take office at the first scheduled board meeting of the new term.
Among this year’s reelected incumbent governors was vfx maven Rob Bredow. Bredow is chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic and senior vp of creative innovation at Lucasfilm, where he oversees the companies’ overall creative strategies. His feature credits include Solo: A Star Wars Story, Independence Day, Stuart Little, Surf’s Up, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and many others.
Technology executive Wendy Aylsworth was also reelected to the board. Aylsworthis a former Walt Disney Imagineer and Walt Disney Feature Animation director of engineering who also spent time at Warner Bros. feature animation division in the 1990s.
Among this year’s newly elected board members is Jinko Gotoh, an Oscar-nominated producer whose credits include Klaus, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, and The Little Prince. Joining her is Hannah Minghella, a producer on last year’s Oscar-winning animated short The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse.
This year’s returning governors list includes Toy Story and How to Train Your Dragon producer Bonnie Arnold, Over the Moon producer Janet Yang, Netflix director of research and vfx vet Paul Debevec (Blade Runner 2049, Oblivion), and Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios vfx supervisor Marlon West (Moana, Encanto).

In a separate announcement, The Academy also revealed this week that Oscar-nominated filmmaker and Laika president and CEO Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link), has been appointed to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Board of Trustees.
