Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

Russian animation master Yuri Norstein and collaborator/wife Francheska Yarbusova will be the subject of an art show tonight at LA’s Gallery Nucleus. Norstein, beloved for his shorts Hedgehog in the Fog and Tale of Tales, has been working on his personal film based on Gogol’s The Overcoat for almost 35 years.

The Nucleus exhibit will offer a rare chance to see original drawings by Norstein and Yarbusova, with a limited number of signed archival prints available for sale. While neither filmmaker will be in attendance, Norstein and Yarbusova’s daughter and son-in-law will be at the opening to greet guests and answer questions.

Additionally, rare Russian commercials, shorts, and a work-in-progress reel from The Overcoat will be screened tonight. The opening reception runs from 7-10pm tonight at Gallery Nucleus (210 East Main St, Alhambra, CA). No RSVP is required. For more details, visit the Nucleus website.
