The Largest Global Gathering Of ‘Shrek’ Enthusiasts Will Take Place This Sunday In Wisconsin
Dreamworks Animation’s 2001 feature Shrek is the gift that keeps on giving.
This weekend, it will give us the fifth annual Shrekfest. Billed as a “celebration of love and life,” it is currently the biggest gathering of Shrek enthusiasts (aka Shrekheads) on the planet Earth. In a review of last year’s edition, A.V. Club described it as “where irony goes to die.”
Admission to Shrekfest is free. Events include live music, costume contest, roaring competition, onion eating contest, raffle, and of course, an outdoor screening of the 2001 film. It takes place on Sunday, September 2, at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin (the event has been moved from its original location of McPike Park due to flooding concerns).
Over 1,700 have already confirmed on the event’s Facebook page that they plan to attend. For more details, visit Shrekfest.com.
