The VIEW Conference has unveiled the first group of speakers for its 2021 edition, which will be held in Turin, Italy from October 17 to 22. The hybrid edition of the long-running animation, vfx, and computer graphics conference will also feature an online component.

Here’s a rundown of who’s speaking this year:

  • The Boss Baby: Family Business director Tom McGrath will be a keynote speaker. Other keynotes will be announced at a later date.
  • On the feature animation front, speakers include Wolfwalkers director Tomm Moore, The Willoughbys director Kris Pearn, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World producer Brad Lewis. Representing Luca are Kim White and Deanna Marsigliese, director of photography and character art director, respectively.
  • Vfx speakers include Sean Walker (Weta Digital’s vfx supervisor on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings); Luke Millar (Weta Digital’s vfx supervisor on Jungle Cruise); Scott Squires (veteran vfx supe whose credits include Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner, and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace); Volker Engel and Douglas Smith (vfx supes on Independence Day); and industry legend Phil Tippett (Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Starship Troopers).
  • Other speakers include Rob Coleman (Star Wars prequel trilogy, Peter Rabbit); Hal Hickel (another Star Wars veteran who recently worked on The Mandalorian); Vicki Dobbs Beck (vice president of immersive content innovation at ILMxLAB); Steve May (chief technology officer at Pixar); and Eloi Champagne (technical director at Montreal’s NFB Animation Studio).
