The Mexican animation event Pixelatl starts its tenth edition tomorrow. For the second year in a row, it will take place in an online format, making it accessible to a global audience.

This year’s edition will feature 150 conference speakers from 18 countries, participating in a robust slate of masterclasses, talks, panels, and workshops. They’ll be discussing animation production, as well as topics related to comic and video game production.

Here are some key highlights that are set to take place during the 2021 edition:

  • Keynote address: “The Journey of Maya and The Three,” with Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua there they will talk about the process from the idea to the release, with visuals never seen before. Additionally, Equihua will deliver a masterclass about character design throughout her career.
  • Latinxs in Animation panel highlighting the importance of diversity and representation in creating content for the new era.
  • Release of Pixar Sparkshorts Nona (directed by Louis Gonzales) and Twenty Something (Aphton Corbin) where they will share insights into the development of their work.
  • Cartoon Network will bring four talks with Mexican creators who are producing series that will release soon on Cartoon Network Latin America (Rey Misterio, Villainous, Los Sustos Ocultos de Frankelda,

    )
  • Peter Lord, founder of Aardman Animations, will share the 50-year history of the studio.
  • Conversation with Byron Howard, director of Encanto, Zootopia, and Tangled.
  • Focus on artists and projects from Spain, including a discussion with Emmy winner Alfonso Blaas, Vivo’s production design Carlos Zaragoza, the feature film Josep, and more.
