Call For Entries: 2nd Annual Andreas Deja Scholarship
The Andreas Deja Scholarship, named after Disney animation legend and Mushka director Andreas Deja, has announced details for its second annual event.
This year’s assignment is called “The Perfect Fit?’ and it challenges animators to create a hand-drawn animation of a character struggling to fit into a coat/jacket, and to reveal that the item is either too large or too small. Full details for the assignment are in the image at the bottom of this piece.
The winner of the assignment will receive a cash prize from the CTN Foundation, as well as a year of mentorship on an animation project from Deja himself. There are also runner-up prizes and complimentary admissions to the annual CTNX expo, taking place from November 21-24. Deja himself will blind judge all of the entries. The call for entries is open now through September 27. For more details on how to enter, visit the CTN Foundation website.
“I’m always excited to see the great work generated by the next generation of animators, and am thrilled that CTN provides them this opportunity,” Andreas Deja said in a statement. “Last year I was so impressed with the quality of submissions and delighted to spend time discussing animation with the winners who brought beautiful perspectives to the assignment. I’m even more eager to see what this year holds.”
The Andreas Deja Scholarship is dedicated to individuals who are pursuing animation education. It is made possible through contributions from individuals, animation studios, and organizations committed to investing in the future of animation.
