Peppa Pig Peppa Pig

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hugely popular kids’ series Peppa Pig, Trafalgar Releasing is launching Peppa’s Cinema Party in theaters around the world today.

This isn’t a Peppa feature, but rather a collection of 10 never-before-seen episodes from season 10 of the series, including a three-party Wedding Party Special. The screenings will also include a bonus party bus episode as well as new interactive segments featuring Peppa and her friends breaking into the real world through a mixture of animation and live action.

Bunching together episodes of a series and releasing them in theaters is nothing new, and it has recently proved quite profitable for several distributors. Last week, for example, Fathom Events put the first three episodes of the fourth season of the faith-based series The Chosen in theaters, and the package grossed nearly $6 million. Last year, a group of episodes of the Demon Slayer series distributed in theaters by Crunchyroll made $10.1 million in a single weekend. The Sony-owned anime distributor will release another batch of Demon Slayer episodes in cinemas on February 23.

When the Peppa Pig theatrical release was announced last November, Hasbro senior VP of global brand management Esra Cafer said:

As we celebrate 20 incredible years of making memories with Peppa, our team is proud to bring Peppa’s Cinema Party to the big screen across the globe, enabling fans to come along and join in the party. Peppa encourages kids and families around the world to jump in together with confidence, and this new cinema experience will bring those beloved characters to life in a new way.

After two decades, Peppa still remains one of the most popular kids franchises out there. In Netflix’s viewership data dump for the first half of 2023, seasons 1-6 of Peppa Pig were watched for 276 million hours. That was the fourth most of any animated series, and the titles ahead of it all had more seasons available for viewers to watch.
