Film details:
- Synopsis: “Ernest remains an ursine troubadour dedicated to a life of music and art, and his constant grouchiness is softened by the creative whims of his mouse friend Celestine. When she accidentally breaks his beloved violin, they must take a long voyage to Ernest’s country of Gibbertia, home to the only artist who can repair it. But when they arrive, they are shocked to discover that all forms of music have been banned in Gibbertia for many years, and a land once known across the world for its incredible musicians has fallen silent. It is up to Ernest and Celestine and their new friends, including a mysterious masked outlaw, to bring music and happiness back to the land of bears.”
- The film was released in French theaters last December and received a French Academy César nomination for best animated feature. It’s U.S. premiere came when it opened the New York International Children’s Film Festival in March.
- Co-directed by Jean-Christophe Roger and Julien Chheng and produced by Studiocanal, A Trip to Gibberitia is the sequel to Ernest & Celestine (2012), which was nominated for a César Award, six Annies, and the best animated feature Oscar. It was also honored with a special mention at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight.
- GKIDS, which handled U.S. distribution for the original film as well, has also revealed the English dub voice cast which includes Andrew Kishino, Ashley Boettcher, David Lodge, Anne Yatco, Josephine Marano, Bill Lobley, and Daniel Hagan.
