Watch Owen Wilson Voice Lewd ‘Cars 4’ Parody For ‘SNL’

Here’s a sequel idea even Disney would recoil from: Lightning McQueen, star of Pixar’s Cars franchise, taunts and harasses other automobiles with increasingly lewd comments, until he ends up in court.

That’s the premise of Cars 4 as imagined by Saturday Night Live. In a new sketch, Owen Wilson, voice of Lightning, is asked to reprise the role for the latest film in the franchise. He reads his lines while taking directions from two executives (played by SNL regulars Mikey Day and Punkie Johnson).

They turn rude, fast: “Back off, jackass — I wasn’t looking at your wife!” or “So what college do you girls go to? Oh, you’re in high school? Coulda fooled me!” Wilson expresses doubts about the tone, until the execs win him around with the promise of a big paycheck. Watch the clip below:

It’s a far cry from the Cars 4 Wilson envisaged when asked about a possible sequel in 2017. He told Cinemablend: “I would imagine that if they do do another one, it’ll be something pretty cool. But yeah maybe like Lightning McQueen in sort of like a thriller. Maybe that could be something.”

Disney hasn’t announced a fourth film in the franchise, whose first three installments have grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide. It has, however, confirmed that a spin-off series focused on Lightning and his sidekick Mater will come to Disney+ next year. Whether it will feature Wilson, who has sat out several previous Cars spin-offs, remains to be seen. May depend on the paycheck.
