This Man Proposed To His Girlfriend By Reanimating The Ending Of Disney’s ‘Sleeping Beauty’
Here’s a Disney remake we didn’t see coming.
When Sthuthi David went to see her favorite movie, Sleeping Beauty, at the theater, she thought she was just going on an ordinary date. Instead, with her boyfriend Lee Loechler sat beside her, she watched in bafflement as the movie broke the fourth wall.
When the prince awoke the princess with a kiss, the characters turned into animated versions of her and Loechler, and Prince Lee proffered a ring. In the theater, the real Loechler got down on one knee as the audience — many of them friends and family — cheered.
This elaborate proposal, the video of which has gone viral, was six months in the making. Loechler worked with illustrator Kayla Coombs and a small team of animators to reanimate the scene, rented a theater (Coolidge Screening Room in Brookline, Massachusetts) to screen the altered film, and faked movie tickets to fool his girlfriend. He even prepared a joke alternate ending, complete with crying dwarfs from Snow White, in case she said no.
But she didn’t, naturally, and the rest is Youtube history. At the time of writing, the video has racked up over 2.8 million views in under two days.
