Beavis & Butt-Head Sketch Cracks Up ‘Saturday Night Live’ Cast

Saturday Night Live’s idea to include a sketch themed around Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head characters in 2024 was a bizarre decision in and of itself, but what happened during the sketch made it even more memorable.

It’s not uncommon for an SNL castmember or two to occasionally break character and laugh a bit, but rarely has an entire skit broken down as decisively as last night’s segment spoofing these Nineties cartoon icons.

The laughing started when Heidi Gardner turned around and saw guest host Ryan Gosling in his Beavis make-up, but then when she saw Mikey Day as Butt-head, she completely lost it. Soon after, other performers, including Gosling and Day, were barely able to say their lines, and even the extras were struggling to keep their composure. SNL’s longest-tenured castmember Kenan Thompson was the only one who made it through the sketch without breaking.
