Short Pick Of The Day: ‘Le Drôle’ by Xavier Sailliol
Film by Xavier Sailliol, France, 2020.
Notes from the filmmaker:
The film is called Le Drôle in French (it’s an expression to describe a kid in the southwest of France, where the movie takes place, Angoulême to be precise) but in English, it translates to The Daydreamer. [I was] invited by the artist Audrey Sedano as part of the Angoulême Augmentée exhibition at the Musée du Papier in Angoulême. Ten other artists and I were able to reinterpret, in our style, a screenprint by Audrey. I come to frequent the place which is illustrated throughout the year with my work. I wanted to stage these privileged moments of calm solitary walks with humor and sweetness in an animated short film.
