Taxi to the Moon Taxi to the Moon

Anime veteran Tomoyuki Niho directed the new music video “Taxi to the Moon” for Japanese band Penthouse.

This brief, catchy, upbeat track is paired with Niho’s distinctively minimal, rough visual style, featuring exaggerated animation that seamlessly complements the whimsical narrative of a woman taking an unconventional cab ride to the moon.

Niho has contributed to numerous anime productions, including key animation on Masaaki Yuasa classics such as The Tatami Galaxy, Lu Over the Wall, and the acclaimed series Ping Pong. Other credits include Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Jujutsu Kaisen, Lupin the 3rd Part V, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc II – The Battle for Doldrey, and Yasuke.

His indie animated short, Kamigoroshi: Prologue, premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia Festival last summer. The film is intended to serve as the prologue to a full-length feature that he is currently animating by himself.
