The Meaning of Bunny’s Dream, a vividly illustrated coming out tale, has been a hit since arriving online at the end of last month, picking up over a quarter-million views on Youtube and 56,000 likes on X (formerly Twitter).

In the brief and beautifully illustrated black-and-white short, a fox wakes up a bunny, who begins to recount a bizarre yet occasionally flirtatious dream. The dream is both humorous and slightly awkward, but it unexpectedly holds life-changing significance for the bunny. As Bunny shares the strange details with excitement, it becomes clear that the dream’s quirky message marks a turning point — full of humor, self-discovery, and surprising revelations.

The Meaning of Bunny’s Dream is a playful celebration of being true to yourself and embracing who you are. “I animated this to show you how love illustrates the simple and silly as complex and profound,” added Howard. “The character’s identities and meaning are up to your interpretation. It’s gay, for gays, and I am gay.”

Howard is a Los Angeles based animator who graduated from the Calarts character animation program in 2019. Since then Howard has worked for Jibjab, Cartoon
Network, and Netflix Feature Animation. Howard also creates comics and admits to secretly desiring to be kidnapped by aliens.
