Pour 101 Pour 101

Cartoon Brew’s new livestream show airs every Friday morning on our Youtube channel.

On today’s episode, we’ll hav American filmmaker and animator Patrick Smith, a veteran of the New York indie animation scene who has had tremendous success on Youtube over the last few years.

Recently, one of Smith’s tweets, embedded below, generated a lively and sometimes controversial discussion. As an artist, Smith has always straddled the line between the commercial and indie worlds. He was an animation director on Daria and Downtown, and later ran his own commercial studio, Blend Films, yet he has always remained committed to his work and has also animated over 30 independent shorts. We’ll talk about he balances these two aspects of his animation career, especially when finances are tight.

Relevant links to items discussed on the show will be posted here after the show. The chat history on the Youtube link is archived, however, it takes a couple days for it to appear, so please be patient.
