This week, ASIFA-Hollywood’s Animation Educators Forum announced a new scholarship fund to help support and nurture the continued education of aspiring animators. The scholarship pool for the fund’s inaugural year is $30,000. Awards will range from $2500 to $5000, and up to six will be presented in this inaugural round.

The merit-based scholarships will be open to graduate students, as well as undergraduate students who have completed at least one year’s worth of education in animation. International students are also welcome to apply.

Individual scholarships range from $2,500 to $5,000 and may be applied to tuition, books and supplies, animation hardware or software, and senior or graduate thesis production. Scholarship award winners will also receive a one-year associate membership to ASIFA-Hollywood.

Applications must include a short biography describing the applicant’s educational experience in animation, a two-page proposal detailing the applicant’s plans for the scholarship, a one-to-six minute animation reel (or ten pieces of still art), and two letters of recommendation.

Additional details and rules, as well as the online application for the 2015–16 academic year can be found on ASIFA-Hollywood’s website. Applications are due by June 15, with scholarship recipients to be announced on July 15, 2015.
