UTA Signs ‘Steven Universe’ Creator Rebecca Sugar, ‘OK K.O.!’ Creator Ian Jones-Quartey
United Talent Agency (UTA) has signed two stars from the world of animation, Rebecca Sugar and Ian Jones-Quartey.
According to Deadline, which announced the signings, UTA will represent the pair in all areas.
Sugar is a seven-time Emmy-nominated animator, screenwriter, director, showrunner, and musician best known for creating the Cartoon Network show Steven Universe. She’s the first non-binary person to independently create a series for the network, and Steven Universe was the first animated show to win a GLAAD Kids & Family Award. Before launching her show, she worked as a storyboard artist and songwriter on Adventure Time. She most recently penned the screenplay for an animated feature which is being developed by Amphibia creator Matt Braly at Sony Pictures Animation.
Jones-Quartey is an Emmy-nominated animator, voice actor, director, producer, and showrunner who created the Cartoon Network series OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, which ran for three seasons from 2017-2019. Before launching his show, Jones-Quartey worked on Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and The Venture Bros..
Jon Huddle at Fourth Wall Management will continue to rep the pair, who announced they were married in 2019. Hannah Knapp Mulderink and Mitch Smelkinson at Goodman, Genow, Schenkman will also represent both artists.
