Square Enix Adding 100 New Jobs In Montreal

Expanding its workforce, game maker Square Enix announced this week it would create 100 new game development jobs this year at its Montreal-based videogame studios Eidos-Montréal and Square Enix Montréal.

Eidos-Montréal is best know for its work on the Deus Ex RPG franchise as well as its work on the Thief and Tomb Raider series, while Square Enix Montréal is the mobile game studio behind titles such as Hitman Sniper, Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go, and Deus Ex Go.

Square Enix already employs over 700 people in Canada, representing the company’s largest workforce outside of Japan. To go along with the hiring spree, Square Enix is also financing a major expansion and renovation of its Eidos-Montréal facility. The company will expand the current 55,000 square-foot office space by adding an additional 10,000 sq. ft., and will upgrade the location with the latest technologies including full-performance motion capture and photogrammetry studios, a user research laboratory, and a mixing and voice recording studio.

Similarly, the Square Enix Montréal studio is also planning an expansion to take place this year, which will double the size of its facilities.
