Attack on Titan Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan, Ghost in the Shell, and Blue Lock could soon turn up in more places than the screen or the bookstore. Kodansha has partnered with advertising company Dentsu to pitch its anime and manga properties to brands across North and South America.

According to Variety, which broke the news, Dentsu will be the central contact for marketers seeking sponsorships, promotional tie-ins, live events, and fan experiences involving Kodansha’s catalog. The deal concerns brand partnerships; no new animated projects were announced.

Dentsu will also add its research on Japanese intellectual property to Dentsu.Connect, its data and identity platform, with Kodansha’s titles among the first to be included. The idea is to give marketers more information as they decide which properties and audiences fit a campaign.

What that looks like in practice remains to be seen. For now, the agreement gives brands across the Americas a way to approach some of Kodansha’s biggest franchises through a single advertising partner.
