Top Story: ‘The Wild Robot’ And ‘Arcane’ Lead 52nd Annie Award Nominations

In the lead-up to MIPCOM, Fantawild Animation, the Chinese animation producer behind the hit Boonie Bears franchise, has announced six new projects, across, film, series, and international brand acquisitions. The announcement was made during the Fantawild Animation Expo in Zhengzhou, China, a three-day event that concluded yesterday.

“Our mission has always been to create and share happiness,” said Daisy Shang, executive president of Fantawild Group and president of Fantawild Animation. “We care about the healthy growth of children and want to craft the best Chinese stories. At the same time, we have been and will continue to be proactive in exploring the international arena as well as licensing and merchandising to further enrich the ‘IP ecology’ of Fantawild.”

Here are the new announcements:

  • Boonie Squad, a magic-themed preschool series .
  • Boonie Bears: Monster Plan, a series that follows the bear brothers and Vick on their missions to save the forest from an invincible machine monster.
  • Boonie Bears: The Wild Life, the seventh-feature in the franchise, which will tread into sci-territory.
  • Realm of Terracotta, a new animated feature that is described as the “world’s first terracotta-themed animated film.” Per Fantawild, the film will tell “the inspirational journey of Magnus, a lowly terracotta orderly striving to be an elite warrior, and his touching love story with the heroine Jade.” The film will draw upon historical Chinese culture, and will aim for an international audience.
  • Fantawild also announced China rights acquisitions of two international brands: Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and Clangers. The company will be the exclusive representatives of these properties in China.
