Belt-tightening measures at Warner Bros. Discovery have claimed yet another victim: the Cartoon Network website.

The network’s site, which had been in operation for over 26 years, went dark within the last day. A redirect now takes users to the website for the streaming service Max. There is also a pop-up message informing viewers that certain Cartoon Network shows can now be streamed on Max or viewed on the linear Cartoon Network cable network. The website no longer offers any clips or episodes of shows as it had done before.

Here is the pop-up message that now greets viewers when they visit cartoonnetwork.com:

Cartoon Network website shutdown

WBD’s decision to shutter the Cartoon Network website comes only days after the company announced that it would wind down its standalone streaming service Boomerang. Some of the content from Boomerang will now be streamed on Max, as well as licensed to the newly-launched free broadcast tv network MeTV Toons.

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Discovery’s stock plummeted to an all-time low after the company announced it would take a $9.1 billion write-down on the rapidly deteriorating value of its linear cable networks. It was an acknowledgement that the $42 billion merger between Warnermedia and Discovery Communications in 2022 was based on an inflated valuation, which failed to take into account the collapse of the cable industry that was happening at the time.
